*** Our goal through these various activities is to create a network of bereaved mothers who can share experiences, joys, sorrows and create friendships in a safe, comfortable, environment of caring and understanding. Please join us.
Peer Supported Grief Group:
An ongoing eight-week peer supported, small grief group (usually under 10) in a dedicated home environment in Hyannis. This group is peer facilitated and offers support but not counseling. Additional groups will be added as needed. Please go to our ACTIVITIES page for dates and times.
Annual Worldwide Candlelighting Ceremony:
This ceremony is held on the second Sunday of December. We use some of the traditions established by The Compassionate Friends, as well as incorporating inspirations and practices shared by the community of bereaved families we have come to know. Family and friends unite to light candles at 7:00 p.m. for one hour in every time zone creating a wave of light encircling the globe, to commemorate and honor the memories of our children who have died too soon, at any age from any cause, that their light may always shine….
Memorial Arrangements: We gather together prior to the Candlelighting to create candle/live green memorial arrangements. We each make an arrangement for ourselves and through the collective, creative energies of those attending, we make several more. The additional arrangements we bring to the candle lighting ceremony for purchase/donation after the ceremony. All monies received from the sale are given to a local charity, such as The Needy Fund, in memory and honor of the recipients child. This is a wonderful way to support each other and include our children in the holiday season, creating hope for us and joy for them.
Every few months, the moms gather together for dinner, either at a local restaurant or potlucks at one of the mom’s homes.
Hikes, beach outings and other informal activities as a chance for mothers to get to know one another.
Attendance at workshops and healing modalities in small groups at various venues on and off Cape.
